A Premium Water in the Flow of Life.

The spring in Fachingen, just on the banks of the river Lahn and in the neighbourhood of the ancient city of Limburg, is discoverd. The legend says, a skipper from Cologne drank from that water and got rid of his digestion problems.

A survey of the medical doctor Dr. Forell about the healing effects of the spring water from Fachingen was brought to the attention of the government of Dillenburg. This is the oldest written testimonial of the Fachingen mineral water spring.

In July of 1746 the spring is cased and in autum the delivery of Fachinger water starts in specially produced clay jugs.

The water is advertised in print commercials. It enters the high society and is seen on distinguished table settings and events. A sales force started to sell the water in Western Europe.

The first scientific publication about the effects of Fachinger Wasser appears. One jug costs as much as a workers' daily wage. Until the end of the 19^th century mineral water is an extraordinary luxury good.

Eight years after discovering the spring, 23.000 jugs are sold per annum.

Merchant Kasimir Herborn takes over the business operation of the spring. After ten years under his management Fachinger water is not only well known in Germany but also in the Netherlands.

August Theodor Pilgrim, also a merchant from Diez, takes over the running of the business.

By now, in the beginning of the 19^th century, 30.000 clay jugs are sold. A preliminary climax.

In a letter to his daughter in law Johann-Wolfgang Goethe wrote on June 27^th 1817 the following: "... for the next four weeks are supposed to work wonders. For this purpose I hope to be favoured with Fachinger water and white wine - the one to liberate the genius, the other to inspire it."

More than 400.000 jugs are sold but in the years to come sales decreased dramatically.

With 157.451 the recession hits Fachingen and the lowest result is reached since commercial acitvities were taken on. Clay jugs from the Westerwald remain to be the favoured container for delivery until the end of the 19th century.

Fachingen introduces the glass bottle. For the time being it is offered along with the clay jugs.

With 608.414 jugs and 118.137 glass bottles the highest turnover in units is reached since commercial activities have begun.

The Fachingen well is leased to Friedrich Siemens, one of the most famous industrialist and entrepreneur of his time.

For the first time production exceeds the one-million-milestone.

Four million bottles are sold.

Just before World War I 6.329.480 litre Fachinger water are sold - almost eight times the amount when Siemens took over 20 years before. Due to the war, trade embargos and decreasing income the turnover goes down to two million litre by 1918/1919.

Fachingen can profit from the general uprising of the economy during the 1920s. New record: over 10 million bottles are sold.

Due to the world wide financial crisis the turnover dramatically declines again to 2.526.689 bottles.

World War II: The Fachingen plant and buildings are not hit by war machinery but the production site is in a very poor condition. No maintenance has been carried out over years and the restart of filling is hampered by many obstacles. Owner is now Rhineland-Palatinate and Siemens is still leasing the plant.

The wooden boxes are replaced by plastic boxes for transportation.

The production figures are ten times higher than 1957. Already at the beginning of 1960 the well reaches its natural limit. Additional springs are explored and by 1974 seven more springs are cased.

The bottles are now closed with screw tops. 

The company "Fachinger Heil- und Mineralbrunnen" is sold to Mineralbrunnen Überkingen-Teinach AG.

Launch of the individual green facet bottle for hotels and restaurants.

The leasing agreemt with Siemens Erben OHG is cancelled. All rights are transfered to Mineralbrunnen Überkingen-Teinach AG.
